Bill’s Eggcellent Adventure is a puzzle game that takes place during the Benedict County Big Egg Fry Cook-off.  Bill has decided to enter the contest for the first time but his nemesis, the evil Egger Rotten, has misplaced the chickens.  It’s your job to help Bill win the cook-off by ensuring that all the eggs make it from the chickens to the frying pans.

The chickens and frying pans are located in various squares on the screen and you will have to strategically place helpful items along paths so that the eggs maneuver safely around obstacles.  Cheese wedges will bounce the eggs at a perpendicular angle, other hens will throw eggs in two directions, barns in three directions, and bombs will destroy all items within eight squares.  As you clear puzzles, new ones will be more demanding and contain other elements like different colored chickens to match with the frying pans, bread that must be collected, and the use of only a specific amount of helpful items. 

The D-pad is used to select the location of where to place an item.  The keypad will select what item (from those available) and also rotate it to send the egg off into the right direction.  When all items have been satisfactorily placed, it’s time to see if you’re path was successful.

The chickens will shoot out an egg that follows the trail you’ve laid out.  If the egg makes it to the frying pan, a new puzzle is opened.  If not, you must figure out what went wrong and try again.  I found that by working my way backwards, from the frying pan to the chicken, I could more easily solve the puzzle but that still doesn’t mean that I had an easy time overall. 

Bill’s Eggcellent Adventure features 60 puzzles and most of them are meticulously designed to challenge even the best minds.  The game may have simple graphics and sound but that’s where the simplicity stops.  If you’re looking for a good mental workout, Bill is the man to see.
