If you??™re familiar with space shooting names such as Alpha Mission, Truxton, and even today??™s masterpiece, Ikaruga, than you are undoubtedly familiar with Brave Shot??™s genre and formula: take command of a space ship, collect multiple power-ups and bombs, then shoot everything that comes your way into oblivion!

Brave Shot doesn??™t have much of a storyline to speak of, but then again, who really needs one when you??™re just out to blow up alien spaceships. The controls provide useful 8-way movement to weave in and out of danger. Firing on oncoming enemies consists of mashing the fire button or pressing the continuous fire-button feature that has been added. Remember to use bombs sparingly to get you out of jams. The music gets repetitive, but visually, Brave Shot looks just as good as the genre did in its heyday.

Fairly simple and straightforward, Square Enix??™s Brave Shot is a great re-introduction or first experience to the vertical space-shooting genre. It harkens back to the days of dropping insane amounts of quarters just to defend the universe and pass the time away while delivering a decent shooting experience.
