Based on the Disney and Pixar film, Cars is set after the happenings in the movie.  Playing as Lightning McQueen, you'll undertake over 30 total missions in an open-end environment where you can move around freely and interact with many of the film's colorful cast.

The game challenges the player with several types of missions that include competing in speedway races and performing jobs for the residents of Radiator Springs. These tasks range in item collection to pursuit and mini-games such as tractor pulling will work as training for the next championship race.  As the player progresses through the game and completes missions, Lightning McQueen will gain new driving abilities, like a turbo boost, that will give him a decisive edge in close races.

All missions are fairly short and easy to complete, which leads me to believe that the game is made with a younger audience in mind.  Some of them can be a little confusing at first but by carefully following the instructions this can be overcome.  The fact that the game also controls with one hand makes it easy to avoid any overwhelming feeling.

The game is full of vibrant illustrations and has a playful appeal that would obviously match well with the intended audience.  The inclusion of a mini-map is also a great idea since you do end up wandering all over the place.  The only thing really missing is a bit more interaction with the environment for the sake of playfulness.  I mean, you can interact with other cars and take on their missions, but that’s about it.  For being open-ended, there’s nothing in the form of just driving around killing time for the fun of it, like in other games, but I suppose it is only a mobile game.

Cars will probably end up being too simple for the older crowd, which in turn makes it a perfect mobile fit for youngsters.  It oozes Disney charm and the game play is immediately available so it should be enjoyed by those who choose to download it.  By that I mean that if you’re a hardcore gamer and decide to download this game for yourself, you probably won’t be getting the same jollies out of the game as a 10 year old.
