Mega Man is out on his third adventure for mobile, which just happens to be the third adventure ever created for the blue bomber as well.  This time around, Dr. Wily claims to have reformed and works with Dr. Light to build a peace-keeping robot named Gamma.  This is all fine and dandy however until eight robot masters resurface and steal power crystals, so it’s up to Mega Man and for the first time, Rush, his trusty canine companion, to stop the evil robots.

Translated almost perfectly from the original, Mega Man confronts the likes of Needle Man, Gemini Man, Hard Man, Snake Man and Shadow Man in his usual way, meaning jumping from platform to platform, shooting enemies and taking special weapons for himself.  If you recall, the key characteristic to Mega Man is that he is able to pick up and use weapons from defeated robot masters. These weapons work particularly well against other masters, depending on which one you’re fighting.

This time around, you get the chance to fight side-by-side with your trusty sidekick Rush.  Another new inclusion is the introduction of a slide move that gives you a better chance of defending yourself, but you’ll still find, as in previous Mega Man titles, that the game is pretty tough to clear.  The controls do have a say in this, as in previous titles, but ultimately it’s the gameplay that presents the true challenge, which is always a  good thing if you’re a serious gamer.  Otherwise, casual players will be relieved to know that there are save points along the way.

It continues to look quite well in comparison to the original, again perhaps even improving on it with nice-sized characters , good color, and animations.  And as always, the audio does a great job of being diverse and playing strong.

Mega Man is still alive and well on mobile in Mega Man III, and that should please fans of the series.  Again, don’t expect to breeze through it, but with the new inclusions, it does give you a reason to download this title if you’re a longstanding fan of the series.
