Puzzlings takes place in the whimsical world of Wardrobia where a young inhabitant of the land has dreamt about 8 enchanted talismans hidden throughout the various regions. On a journey to find these talismans, the young inhabitant will discover a world full of color and majesty, not to mention an item or two of clothing. You see, the Wardrobian's aren't very fond of getting dressed, and that's where you come in.
Through this journey of puzzle matching and discovery, items are found that allow you to customize you're little inhabitant with all sorts of accessories who's image you can then share with others. I am getting a bit ahead of myself however because first of all there is a game to play and it's quite entertaining.
The game entails matching three or more like-colored blocks to remove them from the board as new ones fall in their place. Removing these fills a combo meter that dictates how happy your inhabitant journeys through the land. The combo meter also depletes with time if you're not fast enough, and if it empties, the level is lost. As the challenge increases, so does the amount to fill the combo bar. New, larger blocks also begin to appear that make the levels more difficult to clear.
Playing the game requires selecting a block by touching it and then dragging a finger along a row or column to select the end block. Removing the finger causes them to flip position. You can also drag your finger diagonally to select a square of blocks and this then causes them to rotate in hopes of creating more matches. When a level is won, access to a new one is given as well as a customization item.
These items range from pants, shirts, skin types, headdresses, noses, eyes and all other sorts of strange pieces. There are so many options available that you can have over 100 million different combinations. They can either be put on your character after the level or when you choose to return to its house at any point during the game. The customization scheme adds a very personal touch to the game that is already quite entertaining and challenging. The game starts nice and easy, smoothly adding in new colors or different blocks so that anyone can join in.
Puzzlings has a total of eight areas with approximately five levels in each to clear. Additionally, there are extra puzzle challenges unlocked but what I really like about the game is that there is definitely a goal to shoot for unlike other puzzle games that just have you clearing levels. Every time a new item for customization is discovered, it keeps you wanting more. The game is cute, fun, addictive and certainly worth downloading.
