Super Boom Boom is casual game from the makers of the critically acclaimed Skipping Stone. Like that title, this one serves up some casual fun with one-thumb action that’s highly addicting.
As pirates in search of loot, you’ve come across an island that stores the biggest amount of plunder you’ve ever laid your eyes on. The problem here though is that the booty is heavily guarded by walls and other impediments that keep you at bay. In order to tear those walls down you must blast them with your cannon, but first you must deliver cannonballs to it from your far away ship, and this is where the fun comes in.
In order to deliver the cannonballs, you must use your reflexes to time the upward launches of the bombs and nail the pouch targets to ascend higher and higher, ultimately reaching the cannon. Far be it from being a simple task, since the targets aren’t always stationary and there's a barrage of other things to stop you, along with a countdown timer that adds some serious pressure.
All it takes is a well-timed press of the action button to shoot the cannonball upwards but any slight miscalculation will wreak havoc. The game is actually much trickier than it seems. As you successfully complete levels however, extra bonus cannonballs are given so that you can continue onward and claim your treasure.
Aside from the Story mode that has you chasing for gold, the game also features an Endless mode for non-stop action. There are also variable speeds to up the challenge, though you probably have plenty of that already even in normal.
Super Boom Boom is a one-button gem for anyone looking at finding another very casual and addicting experience. It requires good timing on your part and never pulls any unfair punches, so if you fail, that is totally on you. That’s the type of game you should totally have on your phone for fun.
