Tower Defense brings the popular PC Flash Game to wireless handsets in a friendly and exciting game experience.  It’s meant to appeal to those who already enjoy the game, but just about anyone who decides to pick it up will have a fun time.

The way in which the game plays out is that you are in charge of the land’s defenses against oncoming hordes of enemies.  You must set up towers along a predetermined path that they will follow, so as to combat and eliminate them before they reach the village and destroy it.  Once you’ve positioned the towers to your satisfaction, simply hit Start and the invading monster army then approaches and all of the action is handled automatically.  That’s really all there is to it.

In Story mode, there are 10 chapters to play through with each chapter having an increasing number of waves to battle.  Each wave of monsters is stronger than the previous, and they can be ground or airborne, so it is important to set up the right types of towers.  Some towers defend against ground enemies, others air enemies, and still others both.  Special Elemental and Disaster towers can also be obtained that have special destructive powers, and any of them normal or special, can be upgraded to be more powerful.

The key to survival lies within your ability to manage funds won after defeating a wave.  Each type of tower, or upgrade, costs a certain amount of gold so you must carefully choose what is most important at the given time, while maintaining enough to repair the village if some monsters make it through.  Once the village has been wiped out, shown by the health gauge at top, the game is over.  There are many variants in play here, including speed of enemies, placement of towers and village conditions that really make you think before hitting that start button.

After clearing all chapters in Story mode, Custom mode is unlocked where you can replay any of the levels in Story or other levels you’ve created using a Map Editor.  These added features are OK, most likely when wanting to share your maps with friends, but you’ll find that getting through the Story mode to begin with is challenging and fun enough that you’ll want to continue playing it long after it’s over.  As it stands, there are well over 300 levels waves to battle.

Tower Defense is again a very simple and entertaining game, the likes that anybody can pick up and play and totally enjoy.  Since it is a PC game, you can find it anywhere online and try it out, and this is recommended because once you do, you’ll realize it’s a must have for your mobile enjoyment as well.
