WPT is the best-selling poker brand on mobile and has already generated some impressive numbers in regards to total winnings by players. Because of its success, it was time to deliver an even more robust experience for mobile gamers and hence was the creation of WPT Texas Hold ‘Em 2.
WPT 2 is loaded with a ton of features that, by now, should be commonplace to any mobile poker title. This includes practice, tips, pot limits, different skill levels and leader boards, but the game doesn’t stop there. On a secondary level, there are customizable avatars, online multiplayer, buddy lists and live chat. To take this entire experience even further however, there are regular live tournaments, private tables and even web to wireless game play. In fact, there’s such and abundance of choices and opportunity here that I can see cards becoming altogether obsolete. (OK, maybe that’s a bit too far.)
The game played is, of course, Texas Hold ‘Em so I won’t bore you with the rules and type of play, but just know that they are accessible if you happen to need them. What is interesting is how authentic the game feels in terms of strategy, after all, you will most likely be playing against real people most of the time anyway, but you can even choose right down to what seat at the table you’ll sit at. Despite all of this authenticity, that’s not the real reason this title stands out.
The best thing about WPT 2 is that it is a true PC to mobile experience, so whether you enjoy playing the game on the road or in your office, or anywhere for that matter as long as you have a mobile or online connection, you’ll be able to play poker, dare I say, anywhere, anytime. Simply log on to your phone or on your PC at the correct web address with the same username and password created, and everything is exactly there for your enjoyment. It’s all Java based for pete’s sake and there’s hardly any latency at all.
If you already have the first WPT title and want to take part in all of these new offerings from this version, yes, you’ll have to drop a few more bucks to buy it but you will not lose any of your current info. As long as you use the same username and password as before, you’re still sitting pretty with all of your previous data, which is very nice indeed for those who have amassed a large sum.
WPT Texas Hold ‘Em 2 is one of the very few titles that exemplifies what a mobile gaming experience should be. It is a casual well-recognized game, easy to play, highly customizable and provides community features that can be accessed practically anywhere. This is the finest overall experience we’ve yet to see next to actually sitting down at a table. Sure it’s still only poker, but if it happens to be the best available, why not go for it?
